Which cabinet goes under a washing machine?
A Waschturm™ washing machine cabinet brings your washing machine to a comfortable working height of 60 cm, so you have to bend less when loading and unloading. Although we offer separate base units to extend your cabinet wall modularly, the washing machine itself always stands safely in a sturdy base cabinet. All our washing machine cabinets are designed with a cabinet-in-cabinet construction that absorbs vibration and carries the weight of your appliances safely.
Why a cabinet for your washing machine?
A washing machine cabinet solves several practical challenges at once:
Working ergonomically: your washing machine sits at 60 cm in the base cabinet, ideal for your back and knees
Extra storage: extendable with base units, drawers and compartments for detergent, softener and laundry baskets
A stable base: the distinctive cabinet-in-cabinet construction absorbs vibration and stops your washing machine shifting
Space saving: combine with a dryer on the washing machine for a compact setup
Safety: the built-in anti-tip device and wall brackets keep everything firmly in place
What to consider when buying a washing machine cabinet
Not every cabinet is suitable for carrying a heavy washing machine. Watch these important points:
Load capacity
Why it matters: must cope effortlessly with the weight of a full machine on its spin cycle
Waschturm™ specification: Up to 120 kg (officially tested)
Dimensions
Why it matters: standard washing machines must fit without complicated custom work
Waschturm™ specification: Recess: 62.5 x 86.3 x 58.3 cm (WxHxD)
Vibration
Why it matters: the construction must absorb vibration and carry it straight away
Waschturm™ specification: Vibration is directed downwards through the distinctive cabinet-in-cabinet construction
Ventilation
Why it matters: heat and moisture must be able to escape properly
Waschturm™ specification: Ventilation grilles fitted as standard
Positioning
Why it matters: enough room for all the connections behind the machine
Waschturm™ specification: About 5 cm of space in the cabinet, and with the wall brackets you can create another 5 cm.
What options are there?
You have several modular ways to raise your washing machine and extend your laundry room:
Washing machine stand
A washing machine stand lifts your washing machine to the ideal working height. In this base cabinet the washing machine stands on a continuous base plate, not directly on the floor. This gives maximum stability and spreads the weight evenly. With the adjustable feet you level the cabinet easily, even on uneven floors. At the bottom or the top you can extend the setup with extra cabinets or a drawer insert.
Stacked washer and dryer setup
Would you like to save space? Then put your dryer on the washing machine. This tower setup combines both appliances in one compact cabinet. The anti-tip device comes as standard in all Waschturm™ washing machine cabinets, so your dryer always sits safely on top.
Double cabinet for side by side
Do you have enough width in your laundry room? Then you can choose a washer and dryer cabinet with the washing machine and dryer side by side. Both appliances are then equally easy to reach at 60 cm.
A complete cabinet wall
For maximum storage you combine your washing machine base cabinet with extra storage cabinets and modular base units. That gives you a fully fitted laundry room with room for an ironing board, inserts for laundry baskets and cleaning products. Put your ideal setup together using the configurator.
What suits your situation?
The best choice depends on the space available and your wishes:
Limited space: choose a single stand or a compact stacked washer and dryer setup
A lot of laundry space: consider a double cabinet or a complete cabinet wall for maximum comfort and extra base units
Back complaints: every washing machine base cabinet brings your appliance to 60 cm, ideal for working ergonomically
A lot of laundry: a double setup with both appliances side by side works fastest
Construction and safety
Waschturm™ washing machine cabinets are designed with a distinctive cabinet-in-cabinet construction. Your washing machine always stands firmly in the base cabinet on a continuous base plate that spreads the weight evenly.
Vibration during the spin cycle is directed straight down through the cabinet-in-cabinet construction. That keeps your washing machine stable and means considerably less noise and movement in your laundry room. The carefully calculated space around the machine and the standard ventilation grilles make sure heat and moisture can circulate perfectly.
All cabinets are supplied with wall brackets and an anti-tip device. This guarantees your setup stays 100% safe, even with intensive use or when you put a dryer on top of the washing machine.
Practical tips for installation
Levelling: use the adjustable feet to level the cabinet perfectly, which prevents extra vibration
Distance from the wall: the cabinet can be placed about 5 cm from the wall, which gives ample room for all the connections
Order when stacking: in our cabinets the washing machine always goes at the bottom and the dryer on top, because of the weight difference and stability
Access: make sure you can reach all the connections for any maintenance and repairs
