What are the dimensions of a washing machine cabinet?
A washing machine cabinet from Waschturm™ has a standard recess of 62.5 x 86.3 x 58.3 cm (width x height x depth). That size suits virtually every standard washing machine and dryer of 60 cm wide. These are also the minimum spaces you need. The tighter it gets, the closer the appliance sits against the cabinet. For fire safety reasons we do not recommend that.
Standard dimensions per setup
The dimensions of your washing machine cabinet depend on how you want to position the appliances. Below you will find the main setups with their dimensions:
A single washing machine at working height
Width (cm): 67
Height (cm): 146
Depth (cm): 65
Dryer on the washing machine (tower)
Width (cm): 67
Height (cm): 185
Depth (cm): 65
Two appliances side by side
Width (cm): 134
Height (cm): 146
Depth (cm): 65
Why these dimensions matter
The dimensions of a washing machine cabinet determine not only whether your appliances fit, but also how comfortable and safe your washing machine cabinet is. On the washing machine cabinets from Waschturm™ every measurement has been carefully matched to ergonomics and safety:
Less bending: a washing machine stand puts your washing machine at 50 to 65 cm high, which brings the drum opening to about hip height – ideal for your back.
Room for connections: the cabinet has 5 cm of space at the back as standard and can be placed about 5 cm further from the wall with the wall brackets, giving you roughly 10 cm for water connections, drain hoses and plugs.
Solid construction: the continuous base plate makes sure your washing machine stands firmly in the cabinet. Vibrations are directed down through the cabinet-in-cabinet construction, which provides stability and comfort.
Safety guaranteed: every washing machine cabinet has an anti-tip device, including a stacked washer and dryer setup.
Which setup suits your situation?
Choosing the right dimensions starts with the question: how much space do you have and what do you want to achieve? These are the main considerations:
Limited space: choose a tower with the dryer on the washing machine. This setup has a small footprint (67 x 65 cm) but a height of 185 cm.
Back problems or a lot of bending: a washing machine at working height is the answer. The raised setup (146 cm total height) puts the drum at a comfortable working height.
Plenty of laundry room available: place two appliances side by side in a washer and dryer cabinet. This needs at least 134 cm of width but gives maximum convenience.
Extra storage needed: combine your washing machine cabinet with storage cabinets for a complete laundry room solution.
What to watch out for when measuring up
Before you choose a washing machine cabinet, it is important to measure your room properly. Keep an eye on these points:
Width: measure the available width and allow at least 67 cm for one appliance or 134 cm for two appliances side by side.
Height: check the free height in your laundry room, especially with a tower or a raised setup. Do not forget to include the space for the ventilation grilles.
Depth: the standard depth is 65 cm for the cabinet, plus about 5 cm distance from the wall for the connections.
Doorway: make sure your washing machine and dryer fit through the doorway of your laundry room before you put them in the cabinet.
Level: the cabinet has adjustable feet that let you level the construction, even on an uneven floor.
Modular setups for every situation
The washing machine cabinets from Waschturm™ are modular. That means you can combine different elements to create a setup that fits your room and your wishes exactly:
Base cabinet: a single washing machine in a cabinet with the standard recess (62.5 x 86.3 x 58.3 cm).
Stand module: place a base unit of 50 to 65 cm high under your washing machine for an ergonomic working height.
Tower module: stack a dryer on your washing machine with a safe cabinet-in-cabinet construction and an anti-tip device.
Storage module: add wall units or side cabinets for detergent, towels and other laundry supplies.

Frequently asked questions about dimensions
Do all washing machines fit in a standard washing machine cabinet? Yes, virtually every standard washing machine and dryer of 60 cm wide fits in the recess of 62.5 x 86.3 x 58.3 cm. Do you have a top loader or an extra wide appliance? Then get in touch for personal advice.
How much room do I need behind the cabinet? The cabinet itself already has 5 cm of space in its depth for the connections. On top of that, the cabinet can be placed about 5 cm from the wall. That gives you roughly 10 cm for water connections, drain hoses and the plug – enough for a safe installation.
Can I adjust the height? Yes, by using different modules you can adjust the total height. A washing machine stand raises your washing machine, while a tower needs more height for the stacked washer and dryer setup.
What if my floor is not completely level? No problem. Every washing machine cabinet has adjustable feet that let you level the cabinet, even on a slightly uneven floor.
